Ebook Triple Jeopardy A Daniel Pitt Novel edition by Anne Perry Literature Fiction eBooks
Young lawyer Daniel Pitt must defend a British diplomat accused of a theft that may cover up a deadly crime in this riveting novel from the New York Times bestselling author of Twenty-one Days.
Daniel Pitt, along with his parents, Charlotte and Thomas, is delighted that his sister, Jemima, and her family have returned to London from the States for a visit. But the Pitts soon learn of a harrowing incident In Washington, D.C., one of Jemima’s good friends has been assaulted and her treasured necklace stolen. The perpetrator appears to be a man named Philip Sidney, a British diplomat stationed in America’s capital who, in a cowardly move, has fled to London, claiming diplomatic immunity. But that claim doesn’t cover his other crimes. . . .
When Sidney winds up in court on a separate charge of embezzlement, it falls to Daniel to defend him. Daniel plans to provide only a competent enough defense to avoid a mistrial, allowing the prosecution to put his client away. But when word travels across the pond that an employee of the British embassy in Washington has been found dead, Daniel grows suspicious about Sidney’s alleged crimes and puts on his detective hat to search for evidence in what has blown up into an international affair.
As the embezzlement scandal heats up, Daniel takes his questions to intrepid scientist Miriam fford Croft, who brilliantly uses the most up-to-date technologies to follow an entirely new path of investigation. Daniel and Miriam travel to the Channel Islands to chase a fresh lead, and what began with a stolen necklace turns out to have implications in three far greater crimes—a triple jeopardy, including possible murder.
Advance praise for Triple Jeopardy
“Readers may find themselves smitten with Daniel and with the dauntless Miriam fforde Croft, whose relationship with Daniel deepens in this episode. . . . Primarily identified for her authentic period sets and well-rendered characters, Perry writes in what she has called the ‘Put Your Heart on the Page’ method, with the focus placed squarely on what happens to people under the pressure of investigation. This book is an excellent example of her craft.”—Booklist
“Veteran Perry dials back the period detail and the updates on the lives of the continuing characters to focus on one of her most teasing mysteries, this time with a courtroom finale that may be her strongest ever.”—Kirkus Reviews

Triple Jeopardy A Daniel Pitt Novel edition by Anne Perry Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
- Young Daniel proves he is able, with Proud Pitt Thomas firmly in the background making only a few significant remarks. I have to admire Thomas' restraint in not interfering. I liked the way Thomas and Charlotte are having grandparent emotions, noticeable proof their lives are shifting.
Cassie is a hoot. She's intrigued by the idea that Daniel makes his living arguing (as most 3-year-olds would be) and provides some of the sweetest moments in the story as she unknowingly encourages him.
Miriam is my favorite character, partly because of her skills and logical mind, and partly because she shows clearly that being seen as an attractive woman is still important to her. The cover of the book has great significance for Miriam and foreshadows her subsequent appearances in the series, I hope. Her driving foreshadows end events in the book, and oh, that motorcar! - This book really drags-and since Ms. Perry seems to want to be sure that you have no interest in the parents--who have long been the center of fabulous books
--you have little to think about. Daniel is slowly becoming somewhat of interest--but really for 70% of the book--it is slow-
-and there is little to keep you going.
However--the last 30% is brilliant--and smacks of the marvelous Pitt and Monk books. I hope eventually Daniel can be developed. I miss the PITTS!! - Too much of the plot was unbelievable to me. The whole story line felt rushed. I loved Anne Perry, her first books in both series were excellent but this book falls short. Sadly I won't be buying any more Anne Perry books
- I enjoyed this book very much. Loved the growth we saw in Daniel Pitt, his growing, and instructive relationship with Miriam. Perhaps we have a future Oliver Rathbone (Anne Perry’s William Monk series) here? I also enjoyed getting to know Jemima as a young mother, after watching her grow up in the Charlotte and Thomas Pitt series. The characters are strong, and gave us insight into the early 20th century relationship between England and the United States.
- Could not believe there was no epilogue to the ending of this book. Just leaves you hanging with no resolution for the accused or the main characters. Anne Perry fan!!
- , I have read nearly all of the books in this series and enjoyed each one. The hardest temptation I had was not jumping ahead to find out "who done it"! Anne Perry is a wonderful writer. My only wish is that she would include an aftermath understanding of the story. But I guess I can find that in the next book!
- This particular plot was superb! I cannot say enough good things about how this Author creates conflict and fills her story with such well developed characters. I think the Author is also a master at presenting her settings. I can clearly picture each room I enter in this story, and it serves to connect the reader with the character and somehow helps to develop the desire to solve the problem.
- A great new series by one of my favorite authors. This was a real page turner, such a tightly woven tale, one of Anne Perry’s best ever and she has had many. Hopefully this new series guarantees many more excellent hours of reading!
